About Tim McCoy
Like many excellent luthiers, Tim McCoy began his career as a cabinet maker and graduated to the guitar building craft. For more than twenty-five years he has studied and perfected his art learning from other master luthiers including the renowned John Gilbert. Inspired by John Gilbert, Tim’s guitars incorporate a number of Gilbert’s innovations including a special bridge design and a modified bracing system for enhanced power and tone.
Tim uses woods of the highest quality and caliber of materials. His spruce comes from the same Val di Fiemme forest in the Italian Dolomite mountain range that was the source of woods used in violins of the Stradivari family. The tuning machines are Nicolo Alessi Machines from Italy known for their quality and precision.
