The Coordination Exercises developed by Master Guitarist and Teacher the late Manuel López Ramos have been used by hundreds of students all over the world. These exercises are what rock climbing is to mountain climbing. Practiced on a daily basis they will smooth out technical problems of coordination between the right and left-hand fingers. At the front of the book is a letter of recommendation by Aaron Shearer.

The first three exercises also provide an introduction to the scale position of the right hand and allow the student to move from string to string without the added confusion of having to read the notes of the scale. They are played in the first position and immediately their pattern becomes obvious to the student.

Other exercises imitate situations that arise in the repertoire. They have as their primary purpose to help the student master the instrument's language, which in turn enables him to undertake any musical work. They do not substitute other types of studies such as scales, arpeggios, etc., used in traditional methods, but instead have the virtue of mechanically putting together a series of valuable auxiliary elements to attain finger independence, and to master movements that are not natural but which are frequently encountered when playing certain passages in the repertoire.
