ABOUT US
The Argentinean guitarist the late Manuel López Ramos was known throughout the world for his performances, recordings and teachings. As director of the Estudio de arte guitarristica in Mexico City, his students have won many international competitions.
He has dedicated himself over the years to teaching an expressive technique for playing the guitar. His Coordination Exercises have helped many to overcome problems of coordination between the fingers of both hands.
He has been one of the first Masters to carry on the tradition handed down to us by Andres Segovia.
In the spirit of the teachings of the late Manuel López Ramos, Patrick Read has carried on the tradition at the University of California, Riverside, for over twenty years.
One of Read’s students, Tom Sheeley, was first place winner of the Manuel M. Ponce International Competition in Mexico City and guest artist at the Paris Competition.
Read began his studies with Sophocles Papas in Washington, D.C. He did his principal studies with the late Manuel López Ramos and assisted him in Master Classes over a period of six years. He and his teacher were close friends for over thirty years.
